My Approach to Care

Do you ever feel like a fish swimming up a shallow stream during a lightning storm, only to find that there is a waterfall ahead? What about someone attempting to juggle ten oranges; however, you never learned how to juggle? Perhaps you are making a piece of toast, and it is burning, but when you go to unplug the toaster, the outlet is on fire. Life can be overwhelming and counseling can be a beneficial tool to work through some of its many obstacles.

I value the importance of creating a supportive therapeutic alliance, void of judgment. My humanistic therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in the core conditions of person-centered counseling. You’re the expert of your own life and my role is to help support you on the path toward self-actualization. Sessions with me look a lot like a road trip; you are the one in the driver’s seat, but I am there to point out if we missed an exit.

I earned my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Cleveland State University in 2021 and have been immersed in the counseling profession ever since. Outside of my work with clients, I have also had the honor of teaching multiple courses as an adjunct instructor at Kent State University. As an LPC, I am currently receiving supervision from Sarah Papesh, LPCC-S, CTP. I have had the opportunity to see clients in both private practice and college counseling center settings. I have primarily worked individually with adults, aged 18 and up. I have experience working with many different presenting concerns/topics, such as:

· LGBTQIA+ Affirmative Counseling

· Identity Exploration & Self-Confidence

· Anxiety & Stress

· Depression

· Substance Use & Addictions

· Suicidal Ideation

· WPATH Letters for Gender-Affirming Care

· Significant Life Adjustments

I strive to maintain a therapeutic space that is welcoming, comforting, and authentic. When you step through my office door, you will be greeted with candles, lava lamps, beach vibes, and nostalgic charm. If you feel like we might be a good fit, please feel free to reach out! I currently have availability on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (in-person & remote).

“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.”

-Carl Rogers, 1980
