About Matthew,
Matt Nelson, MSW, LISW, LICDC is a licensed clinical social worker and chemical dependency counselor with a strong focus on trauma-informed care. He works extensively with individuals who have experienced acute, chronic, or complex trauma, helping them process and integrate painful experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Matt is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful, evidence-based approach for healing trauma and reducing its emotional intensity.
Drawing from psychodynamic theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Matt supports clients in developing insight, managing overwhelming emotions, and rebuilding a sense of self-worth. He specializes in treating trauma-related conditions, including PTSD, dissociation, emotional dysregulation, and personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder (BPD).
